January 27th 2026

Congratulations to Earlisa Edward on receiving the 2025 Sensei Malc Bradley Annual Award for Karate Excellence. The award was presented by Sensei Malc Bradley’s daughter, Emma Ram, and his son, Nathan Bradley. This award is in memory to Sensei Malc Bradley, who served as the club’s senior instructor for many years. The trophy is given each year to the student who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and achievement in their training.

On Sunday, 22nd February, eleven members of the Newport club travelled to Portsmouth to participate in the Shotokan of England Karate Union (S.E.K.U.) 4th kyu and above course. It was well attended by students from various SEKU clubs. The training covered several important elements, including self-defence applications, Kata Kanka-Dia, as well as Jiyu-Ippon and Jiyu-Kumite. It also gives the opportunity to pair up with students from other clubs, which provided valuable experience and a chance to learn from different perspectives. Attendance at these courses is highly recommended for students who are preparing for their black belt examinations. Participating in such events supports their progression and helps them gain the skills and experience necessary for success.
